In order to encourage enterprises by investing in research and development, the R.O.C. government has adopted the Statute for Industrial Innovation which was promulgated by the Legislative Yuan. The expenditure cannot exceed 15 percent of total expenditure for research and development. Enterprises can qualify for tax incentives for the above-mentioned requirement. The maximum amount of a tax deduction cannot exceed 30 percent of business income tax payable. The qualification of tax incentive and other requirements shall be verified by the Ministry of Finance in advance; therefore, enterprises won’t be qualified for tax incentives till they are qualified by the Ministry.
